Specialist Door Solutions has initiated a voluntary product recall after a routine internal quality review of certification and manufacturing processes highlighted a potential concern.
The recall affects a small proportion of historic doorsets of a specific configuration, not an entire range – the vast majority of our products are not affected and were not the subject of any concerns during the review process.
This review was part of our ongoing checks and was not triggered by any product failure or customer claim.
Every customer whose doors may be affected has already been contacted and we are in the process of assessing the relevant products, with the support of compliance lawyers and independent fire engineers, so we can ensure the correct processes are followed and verified.
Darren Woolsgrove, Managing Director of SDS, said:
“We acted swiftly and decisively to recall a relatively small number of products after identifying a potential issue. While there have been no incidents or customer complaints, we believe issuing the recall is the responsible course of action.
We sincerely regret any inconvenience this may cause to our customers, and are committed to carrying out all necessary remedial work with minimal disruption, while ensuring end-user safety remains our top priority.”
All recalls must follow public notice procedures and as such, trading standards has been notified. SDS holds full records of all affected doorsets and their locations and are already in contact with all affected clients to either confirm performance or arrange remediation as appropriate.
