Our commitment to carbon reduction and NHS Net Zero 2045

At Specialist Door Solutions (SDS), sustainability is not an add-on to our business - it is a core part of how we operate, innovate, and plan for the future. To underpin these commitments, we engaged with a 3rd party Consultancy on the production of a verified Carbon reduction plan, aligned with the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi). This provides measurable targets and accountability for our carbon reduction journey.

Our Carbon reduction plan sets out how SDS measures, manages, and reduces greenhouse gas emissions across our operations and supply chain. It has been developed in line with UK Government guidance and reflects our commitment to aligning with NHS ambitions for achieving Net Zero emissions by 2045.

Why a carbon reduction plan matters.

Climate change presents both a challenge and a responsibility for businesses across all sectors. For SDS, understanding and reducing our carbon footprint is essential to supporting a more sustainable built environment and meeting the expectations of our customers, partners, and stakeholders.

Our Carbon reduction plan provides a clear baseline for emissions, allowing us to track progress transparently and take meaningful action year on year. By identifying where emissions occur — across Scope 1, 2, and 3 — we can focus efforts where they will have the greatest impact, while maintaining accountability throughout the organisation.

What the plan covers.

The plan outlines our current emissions profile, the actions we have already taken to reduce carbon output, and the initiatives we will implement in the years ahead. This includes improvements to energy efficiency, investment in lower-carbon technologies, product and packaging innovation, and closer engagement with suppliers to support emissions reduction across the value chain.

It also reinforces our approach to prioritising emissions reduction before offsetting, ensuring that real, measurable change sits at the heart of our strategy.

Aligning growth with sustainability.

As SDS continues to grow, we recognise the importance of decoupling business growth from emissions growth. Our Carbon reduction plan supports this by embedding sustainability into operational decision-making, product development, and long-term planning.

By monitoring emissions annually and reviewing our approach regularly, we aim to continuously improve our performance, respond to new technologies and best practices, and remain aligned with evolving regulatory and industry standards.

Transparency and accountability.

Publishing our Carbon reduction plan is an important step in being open about where we are today and where we are heading. It demonstrates our commitment to transparency, evidence-based reporting, and independent verification, giving our customers and partners confidence in our approach.

Sustainability is a shared journey, and we believe that clear communication and accountability are key to making meaningful progress.
