The Corby Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC), located in Corby, Northamptonshire, is a new £11.7 million healthcare facility developed to expand local diagnostic services and improve patient access to essential imaging.

About the project.

Delivered for Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, the centre provides high-quality CT and MRI scanning closer to home, reducing waiting times and supporting faster diagnosis across a range of clinical pathways.

The facility plays a vital role in supporting services including brain imaging, musculoskeletal diagnostics, cancer pathways and general diagnostic procedures. Designed to meet growing demand, the centre significantly enhances healthcare capacity within Northamptonshire.

Specialist Door Solutions (SDS) worked collaboratively with the project team, including Kettering General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Western Building Systems, to deliver a fully compliant and high-performance doorset package for the new facility.

One of the key challenges on the project was a delay in the construction programme. SDS supported the contractor by holding completed doors in storage until the site was ready, ensuring that installation could proceed smoothly without impacting overall timelines. This flexibility and proactive approach helped maintain programme efficiency and avoided unnecessary re-manufacture or logistical disruption.

Throughout the project, SDS provided specialist input to ensure the correct specification of doorsets aligned with the clinical requirements of diagnostic spaces, particularly where fire safety and durability were essential.

The selected finishes included Dfend Chalk door leaves paired with Cobble frames, creating a clean, modern aesthetic, consistent with the clinical environment while maintaining long-term resilience.
