SDS supported the transformation of Les Quennevais School in Jersey into a temporary healthcare facility, providing durable, compliant, and ready-to-install doorset solutions as part of an essential decant programme that enables the construction of Jersey’s new hospital at Overdale.

About the project.

With Jersey’s new state-of-the-art hospital scheduled to open in 2026, the existing healthcare services at Overdale Hospital required a temporary home during construction. The decommissioned Les Quennevais School was identified as the ideal building for a major conversion into a fully functioning interim health facility.

This decant project is essential to maintaining uninterrupted access to a wide range of healthcare services while enabling work to progress on the new hospital.

A diverse range of services will operate from the new temporary facility, including:

  • Child Development Treatment Care
  • Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy
  • Neurology, Rheumatology, Urology Outpatients

“SDS were very responsive during the Design stage and accommodated changes in a timely fashion. The product supplied is of a high standard and is the calibre of material you would expect in a Hospital. The team right through the company were extremely helpful and communication was excellent. Nothing was a problem. It was a pleasure to have SDS as part of our supply chain.

Project delivery.

SDS worked collaboratively with Rok Group to deliver a full package of doorsets tailored to the unique requirements of a decant healthcare project. The facility required a balance of durability, performance, and practicality, ensuring each space was safe, compliant, and ready for clinical use.

  • The project utilised Snowflake door leaves paired with Cobble frames, achieving a clean and modern aesthetic suitable for a healthcare environment. This palette provided a consistent visual identity across corridors and treatment rooms while supporting ease of maintenance and long-term durability.
