SDS supported the transformation and upgrade of the MRI Department at Circle Health’s Sloane Hospital, delivering a high-performance package of doorsets that balanced functionality, safety and premium aesthetics expected within a private healthcare setting.

About the project.

The refurbishment of the MRI department required doorsets that could meet stringent safety and functional demands, while aligning with the high-end appearance expected within a private hospital environment.

One of the primary objectives was to ensure safe and efficient access for staff and patients, including safe movement of specialist scanning equipment. The doorsets had to integrate smoothly with MRI safety requirements, including warning-light systems, X-ray protection, and infection-control-friendly design with no recesses for dust or bacteria to collect.

The client also required high durability to withstand the impacts of beds, wheelchairs and porters, making SDS’s PVC post-formed doorsets the ideal choice.

A further challenge arose when a previously specified doorset needed to be relocated to a different project, giving the contractor only one month to source a replacement - this time a sliding doorset, adding complexity within an extremely tight programme.
